In Uganda abduction of people and holding them incommunicado is a common thing especially those in the opposition in particular Bobi Wine supporters.

This has happened since 2020 with others lost completely and their whereabouts no longer traceable. Some are rotting in jails with no hope of resurfacing over charges which the opposition claim are trumped up and their supporters are just being punished for supporting Bobi Wine.

There are those who are facing the general court martial but their bail applications are differed for now a year plus.In the news this evening, a top mobilizer for Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform has been abducted in Wakiso district and his whereabouts are not yet known.

According to Bobi Wine, the person abducted is Bwambale Geoffrey commonly known as “Western Prince” who is a NUP mobilizer for Rwenzori sub-region.Bobi Wine says the people who abducted him were armed and picked him from Kasenge in Wakiso district. The NUP boss further contends that his team is trying it’s best to trace the abducted Bwambale.

“Just learnt of the abduction of comrade Bwambale Geoffrey “Western Prince”, our mobilizer in Rwenzori sub region. Bwambale was abducted by armed men today afternoon from Kasenge, Wakiso District. We’re doing our best to trace him. #BringBackOurPeople” Bobi Wine Posted

“We have just learnt of the abduction of our brother comrade Bwambale Geoffrey aka Western Prince from Kasenge in Kyengera. At around midday, a drone – silver in color, without numberplates, came to his workplace and took him away to an unknown destination. Onlookers say some of the gun-wielding men were in UPDF uniforms while others were in civilian clothes. Efforts to trace his whereabouts have started in earnest.” Lewis Rubongoya, The NUP Secretary General Said

Early this year, another NUP mobilizer Eric Mwesigwa was abducted, he resurfaced with a burnt chest. While appearing at his party offices in Kamwokya, Mwesigwa said he was tortured by the army. however, in a turn of events Mwesigwa would later appear at the army headquarters in Mbuya with a different story claiming it’s NUP which abducted him with a drone and tortured him but to every one’s surprise no person from NUP has ever been held for torturing Mwesigwa.

Later, Mwesigwa was again heard claiming he was promised some cash by the army to twist the tongue but the promise was never delivered.
