The Kampala Serena Hotel, a 5-star luxury establishment, is located in the heart of Kampala, Uganda, and is celebrated as one of the most modern and beautiful hotels in the country. Owned by President Yoweri Museveni, the hotel plays a significant role in Uganda’s tourism and hospitality sector.

Originally built in 1975 as the Nile Hotel International Conference Centre, the hotel was constructed to host the 13th Summit of the Organization of African Unity (OAU). In 2006, it underwent a massive $30.5 million renovation, emerging as the Kampala Serena Hotel with a completely modernized look and feel.

Today, the hotel boasts 152 luxury rooms, including 13 suites and a grand presidential suite, all designed with a blend of Ugandan and international styles that reflect the nation’s rich culture. Guests enjoy world-class amenities, including three restaurants, a fitness center, a spa, and a picturesque outdoor swimming pool.

One of the hotel’s most notable features is its expansive 17-acre garden, which offers a serene and well-maintained environment. These gardens provide a tranquil setting, making the hotel an ideal location for business meetings or relaxation.

Over the years, the Kampala Serena Hotel has been a host to numerous high-profile events, such as the 2007 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), attended by Queen Elizabeth II. It is also a preferred venue for conferences, weddings, and other significant occasions.

The hotel is managed by a consortium that includes Tourism Promotion Services, the Uganda National Social Security Fund, and Proparco, a French property investment company. This management ensures that the hotel continues to deliver exceptional services and maintain its reputation for excellence.

In 2016, the hotel underwent further expansion, adding 32 more rooms and upgrading its dining and meeting facilities. These improvements enhanced its appeal to guests seeking luxury and comfort.

The Kampala Serena Hotel is more than just a place to stay; it is a symbol of luxury and excellence in Uganda, offering unforgettable experiences to all who visit.
