BREAKING NEWS!! 4 Ugandans Shot Dead During A Broad Daylight Bank Robbery
A wave of grief and fear swept through Kampala on Saturday evening after a deadly bank robbery left four people dead and several others injured. The attack took place at around 6:30 PM at the Central Finance Bank branch in Kisenyi, one of the city’s busiest areas.

According to eyewitnesses, five armed men stormed the bank just as staff were closing for the day. The robbers, carrying AK-47 rifles, opened fire immediately upon entry, sending customers and employees into panic. Many dived under desks and counters to escape the gunfire.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed that two security guards stationed at the entrance were killed instantly. Tragically, two customers inside the bank were also shot dead in the chaos. Several others were wounded and rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital, where they remain in critical but stable condition.
Police responded within minutes of the alarm being raised. A brief but intense exchange of gunfire followed, in which one of the robbers was shot dead. However, the remaining four managed to flee through a nearby alley, dropping a black duffel bag believed to contain stolen cash, as well as a rifle and several rounds of ammunition.
Investigators are currently analyzing CCTV footage from the bank and nearby buildings to identify and locate the fugitives. Authorities suspect the group is part of a broader criminal network responsible for a string of robberies across central Uganda.
The news quickly drew relatives of the victims to the crime scene. Some broke down in tears upon confirming the deaths of their loved ones. Police cordoned off the area, and forensic teams worked into the night collecting evidence.
Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago condemned the incident, calling it a senseless act of violence. “This is not just theft; it’s terrorism against innocent civilians,” he said during a visit to the scene. Lukwago urged the government to increase security at financial institutions and other public places.
The brutal attack has raised new questions about the safety of banks and the ability of private security firms to prevent such tragedies. Many Ugandans are calling for stricter security checks and better training for guards posted at high-risk facilities.
As Kampala mourns the lives lost in this horrific event, police are asking anyone with information about the attackers to come forward. The city remains on edge as security forces continue their search for the remaining suspects and promise justice for the victims.
