The people of Mukono are heartbroken and scared after the cruel murder of Mr. Godfrey Wayengera, a respected school owner and community leader. Mr. Wayengera was the director of Beloved Day Care and Nursery School, a place known for its good discipline and love for children. Parents, teachers, and neighbors admired him for his kindness, hard work, and passion for education.

The terrible event began in Namumira village, where Mr. Wayengera was kidnapped by armed men wearing what looked like army uniforms. They were driving a vehicle that looked like a police patrol truck. Because of how they looked, many people believed it was a normal police operation. No one imagined that it was the start of a murder.

Later that same day, Mr. Wayengera’s body was discovered in a nearby bush. His hands were tied behind his back, and his body showed signs of torture. The news spread quickly, leaving the entire community in deep shock and sorrow.

Security agencies started investigations immediately. After speaking with witnesses and gathering evidence, three Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) soldiers were arrested. During interrogation, the soldiers confessed to killing Mr. Wayengera. They said they were not sent by the army, but instead were paid by someone to carry out the killing.

One of the soldiers told investigators, “Please forgive us. We were paid to do it.” Although they admitted to the crime, they did not reveal who paid them. Police say they are still following leads to identify and arrest the person behind the murder.

The murder has left many people afraid and confused. How could trained soldiers agree to kill an innocent man for money? The community is especially hurt because Mr. Wayengera was a peaceful and helpful man who worked hard to build his school and help others.

Teachers and parents from Beloved Day Care are mourning deeply. One teacher cried as she said, “He started this school from nothing. He cared for everyone. Why would anyone want to harm him like that?”

Police and UPDF officials have confirmed the arrests and promised that justice will be served. Investigations are still ongoing, and more people may be arrested soon. For now, the people of Mukono are left with pain, fear, and many unanswered questions as they say goodbye to a man who gave so much to their children and their future.
