“Mutaaga, Come Save Your Dying Wife’” Police Releases Suspect’s Chilling Voice Recording During Entebbe Murder
Ugandan authorities have initiated an intensive manhunt following the brutal murder of a well-known couple in their home in Lugonjo-Nakiwogo Cell, Entebbe. The victims, David Mutaaga, 69, and his wife Deborah Florence Mutaaga, 62, were killed during a violent attack on the night of July 6—just days after returning from a trip to Europe.
In a disturbing development, police released an audio recording believed to be from the attacker. In the chilling clip, a voice is heard saying, “Mutaaga, come save your wife,” as the crime unfolded. The haunting message has deeply unsettled many and is now considered a critical piece of evidence.
Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke confirmed that the recording was captured during the attack and could prove vital in identifying the suspect. He also announced a reward of Shs50 million for any information leading to the arrest. “We are calling on the public to assist. No detail is too small, and all tips will be handled with strict confidentiality,” Rusoke emphasized.
The crime was discovered by the couple’s shamba boy, Ronald Golooba, who noticed signs of forced entry and notified authorities. Police responding to the call found both victims dead, each with stab wounds to the left side of their chest. Notably, Deborah’s body was partially undressed, prompting investigators to explore possible motives beyond robbery.
Initial findings suggest the assailants scaled the perimeter wall, broke into the master bedroom through a smashed window, and may have tampered with the roof. A sniffer dog tracked a scent trail from the house to the main gate, indicating the suspects likely fled in a vehicle.
CCTV footage from the residence captured indistinct figures entering the compound, though their faces are obscured. Investigators are currently working to enhance the footage and analyze forensic evidence retrieved from the scene.
Rusoke stated that the attack appears to have been premeditated. “This was not random. The perpetrators may have known the victims’ routine. We are also examining the possibility of an inside connection or whether this was part of a broader criminal operation,” he said.
He concluded with a plea to the public: “This was a meticulously planned act. We urge all Ugandans to remain vigilant and assist in any way they can to bring those responsible to justice.”
