From Boda Boda to Real Estate!! My Kampala Success Story
My name is Samuel, born and raised in Masaka, Uganda. I spent over ten years working as a boda boda rider in Kampala. I began with a borrowed motorbike, waking up at 5 AM and working until 10 PM. Life was a daily battle. I earned just enough to afford food and rent a small room in Kireka. On days when it rained, I would often go to bed without eating because there was no work. I watched others progress—buying plots of land and starting businesses—while I remained stuck in the same place.
Every January, I would tell myself, “This is the year things will change,” but instead, each year got worse. My motorbike broke down regularly, and I was constantly buried in debt.
