Nelson, a diligent man from Masaka, faced one of the most stressful experiences of his life when mobile money scammers stole 13 million Uganda shillings from him. He had been saving the money for months to expand his small business, but in a matter of minutes, everything vanished.
The ordeal began when Nelson received a call from someone posing as a mobile money agent. The caller claimed there was an issue with his account and gave him instructions to “fix” it. Overcome by panic and fear of losing access to his account, Nelson followed the steps.
