“Janet’s Journey: From Salon Worker to Senior Government Official in Uganda”
My name is Janet, and I come from Entebbe, Uganda. When people see me today as a senior government official, they often think my journey was smooth, but the truth is very different. It all began in a small salon where I worked as a hairdresser. Life was tough, and I often wondered if I would ever move beyond the struggles of surviving day to day. My family was not wealthy, and financial challenges forced me to cut my education short. All I could do was braid hair and style women to earn a living. No matter how hard I worked, my dreams always stretched far beyond the chair I sat in at that salon.
Every evening, I would look at the government offices in Kampala and admire the women who worked there. They seemed confident, respected, and secure. I prayed that one day I could be in their shoes, but deep down, it felt impossible. I had no influential connections, no powerful relatives, and no clear path forward. All I had was a burning desire to change my life and lift my family out of poverty. During this season of doubt and struggle, a friend introduced me to Shaba Mangube Doctors. She explained how they had helped her cousin achieve success in business and encouraged me to reach out. At first, I was skeptical, but later I realized I had nothing to lose.TO READ MORE, TAP HERE
