Augustine Otuko Declares Bid for Ngariam County MP Seat with a Vision for Grassroots Empowerment
Augustine Otuko, a seasoned political leader and former NRM Youth Chairman for Katakwi District, has officially picked nomination forms to contest in the upcoming NRM primaries for the Ngariam County parliamentary seat.
Otuko’s bid stems from his unwavering commitment to the people of Ngariam and his vision of fostering a prosperous, united, and empowered community. A former Private Secretary to H.E. the President of Uganda for Political Affairs, Otuko brings a wealth of experience and a strong record in promoting good governance, patriotism, and democratic principles.
With over 11 years of service at the NRM National Secretariat as a Research Officer in the Directorate of Mobilization, Otuko has distinguished himself as a devoted and accomplished cadre of the ruling party. His expertise in grassroots mobilization, political education, and policy analysis has played a pivotal role in advancing the NRM’s objectives across the country.
Throughout his career, Otuko has engaged directly with communities at all levels, designing impactful strategies to strengthen the party’s presence and cultivate national unity. His leadership reflects the NRM’s core values of service, sacrifice, and nation-building.
Beyond his professional contributions, Otuko has demonstrated a deep connection with the people of Ngariam through tangible grassroots initiatives. In a personal effort to support local farmers, he has distributed vital agricultural inputs—including hoes, maize seeds, piglets, and cassava cuttings—across sub-counties such as Akoboi, Palam, and Ngariam. One notable success is the introduction of the Narocass 1 cassava variety, which has become so popular that locals now refer to it affectionately as “Otuko.”
This legacy of empowerment highlights his belief in the “Prosperity for All” philosophy and his dedication to practical, community-centered leadership that delivers real results.
Otuko’s campaign is anchored in transparency, accountability, and inclusive development. He continues to advocate for responsible leadership that places community interests above personal gain. In recent engagements with youth, women, and boda boda riders in Aleles Parish, he emphasized the importance of economic empowerment, self-reliance, and food security as key foundations for sustainable development.
A vocal proponent of public accountability, Otuko has raised concerns about the transparency of fundraising efforts, especially those aimed at supporting women’s savings and credit cooperatives (SACCOs). He has called for full disclosure of funds collected and their usage, pushing for integrity in public resource management.
In response to the ongoing mineral surveys in Katakwi District, Otuko has also taken an active role in advocating for community awareness and involvement. He has engaged with national leaders, including Vice President Jessica Alupo, to ensure that local voices are heard in shaping the region’s future.
As the NRM primaries near, Augustine Otuko stands firm in his resolve to serve the people of Ngariam County. With a proven track record, deep community roots, and a vision for transformative leadership, he offers a compelling choice for voters seeking progress, accountability, and inclusive development.
