JUST IN!! Court Orders Ugandan School To Pay 25 Million After Pupil Went Missing In 2018 & Reappears In 2024
The High Court in Kabale has given a strong warning to schools that fail to protect children under their care. This comes after the court ordered Bishop Asili Nursery Day and Boarding Primary School to pay Shs 25 million in general damages to Mr. Tadeo Ruzindantaro. The ruling followed a painful and heartbreaking event that started in 2018, when Mr. Ruzindantaro’s young daughter went missing from the school.
According to court records, the girl was allowed to leave the school premises without the permission or knowledge of her parents. This serious negligence led to the disappearance of the child, causing great pain, fear, and suffering for her family. The search for the missing girl took five long years, filled with worry and unanswered questions. It was only in 2023 that the young girl was finally found and joyfully reunited with her father.
In delivering the ruling, the court held the school fully responsible for its failure to protect the child. The judge said that schools have a duty to ensure that all pupils are safe while in their care. Allowing a pupil to leave school without informing or seeking permission from the parents is a serious failure that cannot be accepted. The Shs 25 million in damages is meant to serve as both a punishment for the school and a warning to other schools to take the safety of children seriously.
This case has attracted a lot of attention from the public, with many parents calling for stricter measures in schools to ensure that such incidents never happen again. It is a sad reminder of the trust parents place in schools and the terrible consequences when that trust is broken. Mr. Ruzindantaro has expressed relief that justice has finally been served and hopes no other parent will go through what he experienced.
