BIG INTERVIEW!! Gen Kayihura Breaks Silence on Murder Allegations, Blames Nixon, Clears His Name
Former Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura, has finally spoken out about the long-standing rumors linking him to some of Uganda’s most high-profile murders. In an interview with NBS TV, Kayihura strongly denied having any connection to the killings of court prosecutor Joan Kagezi, Muslim sheikhs, and former police spokesperson Felix Kaweesi.
Kayihura said these rumors have hurt him deeply and that he has never been involved in any killings of innocent Ugandans. He revealed that it was actually a report by the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) that linked former police officer Nixon Agasirwe to these crimes. According to Kayihura, this report was also handed over to President Yoweri Museveni.
He praised President Museveni for being a wise and patient leader who does not make quick decisions based on hearsay. “Even when I was reported to him, the President did not rush to judge me,” Kayihura said.
Explaining further, Kayihura said he found Nixon already working in the police under the Violent Crime Crack Unit (VCCU), and that Nixon was already involved in questionable activities with other officers. “He was doing his dirty work long before I became involved,” Kayihura stated.
The former police chief also denied having any bad blood with Felix Kaweesi, saying the two had a good working relationship. He added that he never had any issues with Muslims or with Joan Kagezi, whom he described as a friend.
“What hurts me most is hearing people say I’m behind the murders of Ugandans,” Kayihura said emotionally. “That is not true. I have always been a friend to many, and I want the truth to come out.”
Kayihura’s statement comes at a time when public debate continues over who was responsible for the killings that shocked the nation. His remarks aim to clear his name and shed light on the involvement of other forces within the police at the time.
