Investigative journalist Dean Lubowa Saava has been arrested following his public promise to expose alleged covert dealings between the National Unity Platform (NUP) and President Yoweri Museveni.

This arrest comes on the heels of a raid by Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) officials just weeks earlier, during which they seized his television station’s equipment, raising alarms about press freedom and government overreach.

Saava, known for his bold and often controversial reporting, had made an open pledge to “bring down NUP” by unveiling what he claimed were secret agreements between the opposition party and government officials.
