A tragic road accident has claimed the life of Kuwembula Maxwell, the LC5 Chairman of Kamuli District. The fatal incident occurred on the morning of June 12, 2025, near the Ministry of Water and Environment office in Nakifuma, along the Nakifuma–Kayunga road.

According to police reports, the crash involved two vehicles: a yellow Hacman truck, registration number UBR 835K, which was parked near Nakifuma Trust Medical Center, and a white Toyota Hilux Double Cabin, registration number UG 699M, driven by the late Kuwembula. At the time of the accident, he was traveling from Kampala back to Kamuli.

The accident occurred when Kuwembula’s vehicle collided with the stationary truck. The impact was severe, completely wrecking the Toyota Hilux. Kuwembula was found trapped inside the mangled vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the parked Hacman truck reportedly fled immediately after the incident and remains unidentified.

Police officers from the Naggalama Police Division responded swiftly to the scene and have since launched investigations into the cause of the accident. Authorities are currently working to trace the whereabouts of the truck driver and are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in their inquiries.

The sudden death of Chairman Kuwembula has sent shockwaves through Kamuli District and beyond. Widely regarded as a committed public servant, his passing is a significant loss to both his family and the community he diligently served.

In an official statement released on June 12, 2025, P.
