“Even After She Dumped Me Publicly, I Will Continue To Back Her Up Politically” MP Shamim Malende’s Former Husband Vows

Shamim Malende and her ex-husband, Andrew Ssebunya, are reportedly no longer on good terms following their recent public breakup. Malende confirmed that their relationship has ended and accused Ssebunya of confiscating some of her properties, including vehicles.
After the split, Malende moved out of their shared home in Kawempe, Kampala, and is now residing separately in Wakiso. The separation has attracted public attention, partly due to both of their active involvement in local politics.
Despite their personal differences, Ssebunya has pledged to continue supporting Malende politically. He emphasized that they have built a strong legacy together in Kampala district and remain committed to advancing her political career.
“I am living alone here because she has moved to Wakiso. I will continue supporting her politically, and I believe she deserves the NUP party flag again to represent the people of Kampala in parliament,” Ssebunya told a local YouTuber.
He added that he holds no ill feelings toward Malende and intends to help maintain her public image despite their breakup. His statement surprised many, showing a clear distinction between personal disagreements and political cooperation.
Shamim Malende is currently competing for the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket, facing off against Zahara Luyirika, the current Speaker of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), in a contest that has garnered significant public interest.
Ssebunya’s continued support highlights a rare example of ex-partners maintaining a professional relationship for the greater good. Political analysts suggest that his backing could strengthen Malende’s chances in the upcoming party elections and set a positive example of putting political commitments above personal conflicts.
