A tragic incident in Mbale has left the community in mourning after popular DJ and singer Jonathan Wanambwa, also known as MC Gavin, was fatally stabbed. The incident reportedly occurred late at night after Gavin was discovered cheating on one of his girlfriends, Namono Gladys.
Gavin, who performed at Oak Bar in Mbale, had invited Namono to his rented house to spend time together. The situation took a deadly turn when another girlfriend, Sonis Heylla, unexpectedly arrived while the two were still inside.
Neighbors say Gavin initially refused to open the door for Sonis, but after she shouted loudly, he let her in. A heated argument then erupted between the two women, with insults exchanged while Gavin reportedly watched in shock and shame.
The confrontation escalated when Namono, enraged by the betrayal, picked up a knife and stabbed Gavin. She accused him of being unfaithful despite her care, which included cooking for him, washing his clothes, and providing emotional and physical support.
Following the attack, Namono was arrested while attempting to flee the scene. Sonis, traumatized by the violent incident, ran away and has not been reported to have returned. Gavin later succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind two young children, one just eight months old.
MC Gavin was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Hilly Busulani, Upper Budadiri district, where family, friends, and fans gathered to mourn the loss of the talented musician. His sudden death has shocked and saddened the local community.
This tragic event underscores the dangerous consequences of love triangles and unresolved conflicts. Authorities continue to investigate, while the community is calling for increased awareness about managing personal disputes safely to prevent such heartbreaking outcomes.
