A deeply disturbing and tragic incident has emerged following the death of Jesca Amongin, a 32-year-old Kenyan national and mother of two. Amongin was reportedly abducted from her home in Kerugoye, Kenya, on June 16, 2025, by unidentified individuals. Just days later, she was shot dead by Ugandan security operatives, who allege she was attempting to carry out a suicide bombing in a crowded market.

The incident occurred earlier today at approximately 10:30 AM in a bustling marketplace in Uganda. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a sudden, loud explosion that sent vendors and shoppers fleeing in panic. The chaos was immediate, with people running in all directions, abandoning stalls and belongings as fear spread through the area.

Security forces responded swiftly, sealing off the scene to investigate the source of the explosion. According to the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), Jesca Amongin was identified as a suspected suicide bomber. Authorities claim she posed an imminent threat and was neutralized to prevent further harm.

However, serious questions are now being raised about the sequence of events that led to her death. Amongin’s family and members of the community in Kenya are demanding answers, struggling to comprehend how a woman reportedly abducted from her home just a week ago ended up as the alleged suspect in such a deadly incident. Her loved ones describe her as a peaceful, devoted mother, with no known ties to extremist activities.

Human rights organizations and legal advocates across the region are calling for an immediate, independent investigation into the circumstances of her abduction, cross-border movement, and the actions taken by Ugandan authorities. The incident has sparked concern about due process, the protection of civilians, and the treatment of suspects accused of terrorism.

As the region mourns and demands clarity, Jesca Amongin’s story stands as a painful reminder of the human cost of violence, and the urgent need for transparency and justice in such complex and troubling cases.
