As elections for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda draw closer, the political battles are heating up—and now, even nonprofit organizations are being pulled into the fight. One of Uganda’s well-known faith-based organizations, Pilgrim Africa, has found itself at the center of shocking accusations that many believe are false and politically motivated.

A story published on the website freemannewsug.com claims that Pilgrim Africa is involved in financial misconduct and is being investigated by government agencies in Uganda and the United States. The article even mentions a supposed court case in Uganda’s High Court under the number MC-14-2025. But when contacted, officials from Pilgrim Africa said they had not received any information about this case and are not aware of any investigation into the organization.

According to the organization’s spokesperson, Pilgrim Africa has not been contacted by any court or government agency about any complaint. “To the best of our knowledge, there is no case or investigation. We continue to work openly and honestly with all our partners in both Uganda and the USA,” the spokesperson said.

The website that published the article is said to be run by a journalist who works closely with Mr. Mike Mukula, the current NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda. Mukula is the same person that Calvin Echodu is challenging in the upcoming election. This connection has led many people to believe that the article is part of a planned political attack meant to damage Mr. Echodu’s reputation by going after anything linked to him—including Pilgrim Africa, which he is associated with.

Now, with these sudden accusations against Pilgrim Africa, many believe this is just another tactic to bring down Echodu’s campaign. Pilgrim Africa is widely respected for its work in improving education, healthcare, and farming in Uganda. The organization operates with support from both local and international partners and has never been involved in scandal—until now, when politics seem to be getting in the way.

Some political observers see this as a dangerous trend where political leaders use fake news and government power to destroy their opponents. “This isn’t just about Calvin Echodu or Pilgrim Africa,” one analyst said. “It’s about protecting democracy and stopping powerful people from using dirty tricks to stay in power.”

At this point, no real evidence has been presented to support the claims made in the article. No court documents have been shown, and no official investigation has been confirmed. Pilgrim Africa continues to run its programs and has not slowed down its work despite the rumors.

What remains clear is that the fight for the NRM Vice Chairperson seat in Eastern Uganda is turning ugly. And as long as organizations like Pilgrim Africa are being dragged into political battles, it raises serious questions about how far some are willing to go to hold onto power.
