If Bobi Wine Who Is Very Popular Can’t Unseat Museveni, How About You?? Electoral Commission Turns Away John Katumba
Presidential aspirant John Katumba, popularly known as Katumba Oyee, was turned away by the Electoral Commission after submitting his nomination documents without the mandatory submission letter. This letter is a formal requirement confirming that the nomination forms and voter signatures are complete and ready for verification.
Katumba arrived at the Commission dressed sharply in a pink blazer over a white shirt, carrying neatly organized documents. His appearance reflected a far more polished campaign compared to 2021, when his efforts were improvised and lacked basic resources, including being chauffeured in a battered blue Toyota Raum.
On Monday, Katumba made a striking entrance at the Commission headquarters in Kampala, arriving in a cream Toyota Prado emblazoned with campaign slogans promising jobs, free education, tax reform, and improved infrastructure. This upgraded presentation signaled a more serious and professional approach to the presidential race.
Despite the administrative setback, the Electoral Commission confirmed that Katumba has not been disqualified. He still has the opportunity to submit the missing letter and complete his nomination within the designated window, allowing his candidacy to be formally accepted.
Political analysts noted that while Katumba’s campaign has become more professional, significant challenges remain. Many have questioned whether he can make a notable impact in a contest where seasoned opposition figures, such as Dr. Kizza Besigye, previously struggled to challenge the incumbent president.
Katumba’s campaign team remains confident, insisting that the nomination issue is minor and easily corrected. The candidate has reiterated his commitment to addressing pressing national issues and offering fresh solutions to Ugandans ahead of the 2026 elections.
As the nomination period continues, attention remains on Katumba and other candidates racing to complete their paperwork and meet Electoral Commission requirements. How efficiently he navigates these administrative hurdles could shape his early momentum in the campaign.
