“If He Has A Problem With Me, Let Him Call Me To His Basement & We Will Settle It,” MP Tinkasiimire Challenges Gen. Muhoozi Over Abduction Allegations

Buyaga West Member of Parliament, Hon. Barnabas Tinkasiimire, has broken his silence following an alleged abduction over the weekend, delivering a bold and direct challenge to Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of President Yoweri Museveni and a top military figure in Uganda.

Speaking to the media, Tinkasiimire firmly dismissed claims that the incident was staged for political gain. Instead, he described it as a brutal, real-life encounter with armed men, who he believes were on an unlawful mission.

“Let no one claim this was a political stunt,” the MP said. “If Gen. Muhoozi has an issue with me, let him call me to his basement — I will take myself there and we solve it like men.”

Tinkasiimire recounted that the incident occurred on Saturday around 6 p.m. at a Rubis petrol station in Makerere. While in his vehicle, a group of armed men approached and forcefully pulled him out. “The moment they touched me, I knew this was an abduction. I resisted, but they beat me and pushed me into a ‘drone’ van. They blindfolded me and drove to an unknown location,” he recalled.

His remarks come amid growing public concern over the use of force and illegal detentions in Uganda, especially involving political figures and dissenting voices.

While Gen. Muhoozi has not responded to the MP’s comments, Tinkasiimire’s challenge marks a serious escalation in Uganda’s ongoing political tensions. His demand for a direct confrontation, rather than covert harassment, is being seen as both courageous and confrontational.

Government and military officials have yet to issue an official statement regarding the abduction claims. However, the silence only adds to the controversy and has sparked widespread calls for transparency and accountability.

Tinkasiimire’s message is clear: if there are political disagreements, let them be addressed openly — not through intimidation or violence.

As the political climate heats up, all eyes are now on Gen. Muhoozi and the security apparatus to respond to both the incident and the broader concerns about the state of democracy and justice in Uganda.
