“No Body Can Dare Touch Me In Uganda” Muyankole UPDF Officer Threatens Karamoja Wife With Death, Forcefully Takes Over Her Wealth

Corporal Jesca Akech, a UPDF officer from Karamoja, is facing a dangerous and heartbreaking situation after her husband, Wo1 Tugume Moses, a Muyankole UPDF officer, forcibly evicted her from their jointly owned home in 2023. Jesca revealed that her husband allowed his co-wife, Katusabe Janet, to take over the property without Jesca’s consent.

After more than 17 years of marriage, Jesca decided to file for divorce and fight for her rights. Her case has been in the High Court in Mbarara for the past three years. Although Tugume Moses initially promised to provide financial support to Jesca since he took control of their property and wealth, he has since refused to pay anything, openly stating she will receive nothing.

The situation worsened when Jesca disclosed that her husband allegedly hired people to kidnap and kill her. These assailants tracked her movements from Kampala to Mbarara. Thanks to her military training and the help of her superiors, Jesca managed to apprehend the attackers in Makenke after four days. Her husband was also arrested and held in police custody in Mbarara.

Despite the serious allegations, Wo1 Tugume Moses was released on police bond without surety, while those he allegedly sent to harm Jesca remain detained. Jesca believes her husband’s influence—gained through misuse of UPDF logistics funds—helped him avoid full justice. She fears for her safety as he reportedly boasts of his untouchable status within the system.

Jesca also revealed that Tugume Moses agreed to pay her 60 million Ugandan shillings as part of the divorce settlement, with payments to start in August of the previous year. However, no payments have been made, even after a court-issued Execution of Decree order demanded compliance.

Her case exposes serious flaws in Uganda’s legal and military systems, underscoring the urgent need for fairness and accountability.
