So Bad!! See The Shocking Details Behind Shamim Malende’s Marriage Meltdown & What Exactly Happened
Kampala Woman MP Shamim Malende has confirmed that she and her husband, Shamil Ssebunya, have ended their marriage. She made the announcement on her Facebook page, putting to rest speculation that the news was a political stunt during her intense race for the National Unity Platform (NUP) party ticket against Zahara Luyirika and Winfred Nakanini. Both Malende and Ssebunya have now acknowledged that their five-year marriage has irretrievably broken down.
According to Ssebunya, their marriage began to unravel after he discovered suspicious messages on Malende’s phone. He said he tried to remain patient, hoping the issues would pass, but was shocked when Malende allegedly sent people to collect her belongings. Ssebunya also claimed that he had helped her build her wealth and accused her of attempting to register his vehicles in her name.
Responding to allegations that he married Malende for money, Ssebunya was defiant. He explained that Malende had nothing when they married and that they initially lived in rented premises in Nansana. He claimed that after she became an MP, she began undermining him, refusing to cook, and asserting she was not his “housegirl.” He denied ever trying to sabotage her political career, saying he supported her campaigns and even accompanied her for medical appointments.
Malende responded publicly, stating that Ssebunya is “no longer her representative” and warning others to deal with him at their own risk. While admitting that there were “many issues” in the marriage, she emphasized that she would not air private matters in public, highlighting the importance of preserving her dignity. She asked her supporters to pray for her during this difficult time.
In addition, Malende accused Ssebunya of stealing two of her vehicles and taking control of her Facebook and TikTok accounts, which she had used for political mobilization. She has since created new accounts to continue her work and urged supporters to help her regain access to her original pages.
The lawmaker also revealed that she is living in fear, although Ssebunya denied making any threats. She further claimed that he stole a vehicle worth Shs150 million before their marriage completely deteriorated.
The public fallout from their split has drawn widespread attention, exposing both personal and political tensions in the life of Kampala’s outspoken MP. While both parties have aired grievances, the focus remains on their political activities and the challenge of maintaining personal dignity amid a highly publicized breakup.
