The Hunting Continues!! Police Releases Audio & CCTV Video of Entebbe Murder Suspect, Announces Shs50M Reward for Tip-Off

Authorities have unveiled new evidence in the murder investigation of David Mutaaga and Deborah Florence Mutaaga, an elderly couple who were brutally killed in Entebbe on July 6. The couple had recently returned to Uganda after spending over three decades in Zurich, Switzerland. Just hours before the attack, they had hosted a joyous welcome-home party with family and friends.
During a weekly security briefing at police headquarters in Naguru, police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma presented a 24-second audio clip and a blurry video showing a man believed to be the suspect. In the video, the individual is dressed in a black shirt, maroon sweatpants, and a face mask. He appears to be holding an unidentified object.
The audio captures a disturbing moment where the suspect confronts one of the victims, angrily stating that although he never received an education himself, the victim’s children were fortunate to have gone to school. He then commands the victim to “go to the hospital” before calling out to the victim’s wife, asking her to help him.
Police are urging the public to listen closely to the recording and report any recognition of the voice. A reward of UGX 50 million (approximately $13,000) is being offered for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
Investigators believe the killings were premeditated. It is suspected that the assailant conducted prior surveillance of the property and accessed the premises by scaling the perimeter wall using an electric pole. Both victims were fatally stabbed in what police have described as a targeted attack.
Two domestic workers—Angela Nakalema and David Golooba—who were employed at the Mutaaga home, were taken into custody for questioning. Authorities say the two left the residence at around 7:45 p.m., shortly before the murders occurred.
The brutal nature of the attack has sent shockwaves through the Entebbe community, raising concerns about the safety of elderly residents and Ugandans returning from abroad. Police remain hopeful that the newly released evidence will help lead to a breakthrough in the case.
