“THIS IS SO MISERABLE, HE SHOULD RETIRE” Ugandans Left Emotional As Gen Moses Ali Fails To Speak Properly At Campaign Rally

Ugandans have been left emotional and deeply concerned after a video emerged online showing retired General Moses Ali—longtime MP for Adjumani West County—struggling to speak and stand during a campaign rally.

The 86-year-old political veteran appeared before voters in Mokolo East village, Lajopi Parish, Adropi Sub-county, where he announced his intention to seek re-election in the upcoming polls. Addressing the community, he said he had come to prove he was still alive and ready to serve once again.

But what was meant to be a gesture of reassurance quickly turned into a source of national distress. In the widely circulated video, Gen. Moses Ali appears physically frail, his speech slurred, and he visibly struggles to remain steady as he addresses the crowd.

The footage has since gone viral, sparking widespread reaction ranging from sadness to anger. Many Ugandans expressed heartbreak over the general’s condition, while others questioned why someone so evidently unwell was still being encouraged to seek public office.

“Where is his family? Someone should carry this man back home,” one user commented.
Another remarked, “He has refused to rest, but they will lay him down and tell him to rest in peace.”
“This is painful. This is not leadership anymore—this is greed,” a concerned viewer added.

A growing number of Ugandans believe those close to Gen. Ali may be taking advantage of his age and status, allowing him to remain in politics despite clear health challenges. The incident has also reignited calls for leadership reforms, with many urging the government to introduce retirement guidelines or mandatory health evaluations for political candidates—especially the elderly.

While Gen. Moses Ali is widely respected for his long service to the country, the video has triggered a nationwide debate about leadership, aging, and dignity.

As the 2026 elections approach, calls for generational change and responsible leadership are growing louder, with many citizens asking tough questions about who should be entrusted with the nation’s future.
