In Makindye-Ssabagabo, a growing number of residents say they have lost confidence in their current Member of Parliament, Hon. David Serukenya. Locals complain that since winning the seat, he has largely been absent from the community. His offices are often closed, and residents struggle to reach him when they need assistance. They also note that he has rarely spoken in Parliament on issues affecting the constituency, leaving many feeling ignored and voiceless.

Because of this dissatisfaction, support is now shifting to Hon. Joseph Mukasa, who has demonstrated a hands-on style of leadership. Unlike Serukenya, Mukasa is consistently present in the community. Residents see him actively engaging with them, listening to their concerns, and providing tangible support without waiting for election periods.

Over the years, Hon. Mukasa has participated in numerous community outreach programs. He has visited areas such as Zanta, Kanaaba, Busabala, Seguku, and Kigo, offering essential supplies to families in need. He has also supported special initiatives within the constituency and smaller private projects, showing care for those often overlooked.

Mukasa’s work with churches and fundraising efforts has further strengthened community ties. Many residents say his generosity and personal involvement have made a real difference in their lives. They believe he is not only capable of representing them effectively in Parliament but also of delivering practical solutions to everyday problems.

This contrast is the key reason locals are turning away from David Serukenya and backing Joseph Mukasa. While Serukenya is criticized for being absent and silent, Mukasa is praised for his presence, reliability, and active service. To many, his record demonstrates that he is a servant leader who truly understands their struggles.

As one voter explained, “We do not want an MP who disappears after elections. We want someone who walks with us, speaks for us, and brings real change. That is why we are choosing Mukasa Joseph.”
