“He Is A Very Serious Officer, Quiet & Devoted To Building The Army” Museveni Hails Gen Muhoozi’s Loyalty & Hard Work in Transforming Uganda’s Army
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has publicly praised his son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for his leadership and dedication to strengthening Uganda’s military. Speaking at a recent event, Museveni described Muhoozi as “a very serious officer—quiet, disciplined, and deeply committed to building the army.”
The President credited Gen Muhoozi with playing a pivotal role in establishing Uganda’s elite Commando and Paratrooper Forces. According to Museveni, the formation of these specialized units had been delayed for years due to inaction by other stakeholders. It was Muhoozi, he said, who finally took initiative and ensured their successful creation.
Museveni hailed this achievement as a major milestone for the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), noting that the specialized units have significantly boosted the country’s capacity to address both domestic and regional security threats.
Currently serving as the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi has held multiple high-level positions in the UPDF. His work in building and deploying elite forces has earned him respect across the military, with many within the ranks viewing him as a central figure in the ongoing modernization of Uganda’s armed forces.
The President also expressed personal pride in his son’s accomplishments, highlighting that beneath Muhoozi’s reserved demeanor lies a determined and results-oriented leader.
This public endorsement comes at a time of growing national interest in Gen Muhoozi’s military and potential political trajectory. Analysts suggest that Museveni’s continued support could further strengthen Muhoozi’s standing and influence—potentially shaping Uganda’s future leadership landscape.
As speculation about succession continues to swirl, the President’s remarks may signal more than just paternal pride—they could be a strategic nod to Muhoozi’s rising role on Uganda’s national stage.
