President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who has been at Uganda’s helm for 40 years, was yesterday formally nominated by the Electoral Commission to contest in the 2026 presidential elections. Seeking a seventh consecutive term, Museveni briefly addressed the media before heading to Kololo Independence Grounds to launch his campaign manifesto.
With the theme “Protecting the Gains,” his campaign message focused on continuity. Addressing a large gathering of supporters, Museveni assured Ugandans that his leadership would maintain stability while driving further development for the nation.
