“Not A Single One Of Them Will Survive” Gen Felix Kulayigye Tells All Those Who Participated In The illegal Parade At NUP Headquarters

Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) spokesperson Maj. Gen. Felix Kulayigye has defended the ongoing arrests of National Unity Platform (NUP) members, insisting that security forces are conducting lawful detentions rather than abductions. His comments come as public concern grows over how opposition members are being picked up by government operatives.
In an interview with Next Radio, Gen. Kulayigye dismissed allegations that the government is abducting NUP supporters. “Anybody who finds themselves in the hands of government agencies has not been abducted. It is the methodology of arrest that differs,” he explained, emphasizing that the actions are within legal bounds.
The UPDF spokesperson linked the recent arrests to a parade held at the NUP headquarters in Makerere-Kavule in February. He described the gathering as illegal and comparable to unauthorized military-style drills, justifying the need for legal action.
“Whoever participated in that illegal parade at the NUP headquarters in Kavule will be brought to court. That is why those individuals have been picked,” Kulayigye stated firmly, warning that more arrests could follow as investigations continue.
When asked why suspects are not simply summoned instead of being arrested forcefully, Kulayigye did not give a direct answer, fueling further debate about the government’s approach in handling opposition activities.
Meanwhile, the legal process continues for those already in custody. On Monday, Edward Ssebuufu (Eddie Mutwe) and Achileo Kivumbi, both senior members of Bobi Wine’s security team, appeared in court for a bail hearing. However, the session was postponed after prosecutors amended the charge sheet to include additional names.
The new defendants—Tasi Calvin (Bobi Giant), Lukenge Sharif, Nyanzi Yasin, Kaweesi Tonny, and Ssemakula Edwin—have now joined the list of NUP members facing charges of conducting unlawful military-style drills. The court has adjourned the case to September 29, 2025, as tensions between security forces and the opposition party continue to escalate.
