“Smoking Weed & Cigarette Is Bad, The Youth Shoud Desist From It Immediately” Gen Muhoozi’s Big Advice To The Young Generation
Senior Presidential Advisor and First Son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has taken to Twitter to send a strong warning to young people about the dangers of smoking and drug use. In his post, the general made it clear that he personally refrains from smoking and encouraged the youth to steer clear of cigarettes, marijuana, and other harmful substances.
“No, I don’t smoke anything. I advise all young people to avoid cigarettes, weed etc.,” Gen Muhoozi tweeted, sparking widespread reactions online. His statement comes amid growing concerns about drug and substance abuse among young people in Uganda and globally.
Many of his followers praised the general for setting a positive example, noting that his public stance could inspire young people to make healthier life choices. Others joined the conversation, urging leaders, parents, and communities to amplify similar messages to curb rising drug use among teenagers and young adults. Health experts warn that smoking and drug use can lead to serious long-term health issues, including addiction, lung disease, and mental health problems.
By leveraging his social media presence, Gen Muhoozi has once again demonstrated his influence in shaping youth conversations in Uganda. His message reinforces the call for young people to live responsibly, make better decisions, and focus on building a productive future free from the pitfalls of drugs.
Despite ongoing national campaigns targeting substance abuse—particularly among students and unemployed youth—cases of addiction and drug-related crime continue to rise.
Gen Muhoozi’s firm stance adds momentum to efforts aimed at protecting the health and wellbeing of Uganda’s largest demographic group: its youth.
Through his message, the General highlights the importance of fostering a generation that is strong, healthy, and equipped to contribute positively to Uganda’s development.
