SAD NEWS!! ADF Rebels Attack Again, Leave Many Dead, See Full Details Below
At least nine people lost their lives overnight from Saturday to Sunday in a violent attack in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), local sources reported.
The assault, attributed to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels, occurred in the town of Oicha, in Beni territory of North Kivu Province.
According to witnesses, eight civilians and a police officer were watching a football match inside a house when the attackers surrounded the building and set it on fire, trapping the victims inside. The exact number of people present during the attack remains unclear.
Charles Omeonga, Beni’s military administrator, visited the scene and strongly condemned the violence. He confirmed that additional troops had been deployed to track down the assailants, who fled into nearby forests. Local officials also said a security meeting was underway to coordinate a response.
The ADF, an armed group of Ugandan origin linked to the Islamic State in Central Africa, has intensified attacks on villages in North Kivu and Ituri provinces in recent weeks. These assaults predominantly target civilians, spreading widespread fear throughout the region.
Just days earlier, around 45 people were killed in multiple raids in Lubero territory. In late July, roughly 40 civilians were massacred during an attack on a Catholic church in Ituri.
Despite ongoing joint military operations by Congolese and Ugandan forces against the ADF since November 2021, attacks continue. The latest violence underscores the group’s persistent threat and the fragile security situation in eastern DRC, leaving communities living in constant fear of further attacks.
