Kanungu Businessman Nabbed Söd*mizing 12 Year Old Boy , Boy Narrates How He Was Grabbed While Grazing

Police in Kanungu have arrested Edison Ainembabazi, a 23-year-old resident of Mashoko Village in Rushaka Parish, Nyamirama Sub-County, Kanungu District, for allegedly sodòmizing a minor.

Ainembabazi is accused of engaging in Homos*xual acts with a 12-year-old boy on July 23, 2024, around 5 PM, according to Fred Kagabambe, LC1 Chairman of Nyabushoro Village.

Kagabambe reports that Ainembabazi found the victim grazing goats, grabbed him, and took him to the bush where he allegedly committed the act.

Elly Maate, police spokesperson for the Kigezi region, stated that after the incident, the suspect went into hiding until his arrest on Friday.He has been taken to Kanungu Police Station, where investigations are ongoing.

The case is registered under file number CRB 469/2024.Homosexuality was declared illegal in Uganda after President Yoweri Museveni signed the bill prohibiting it in May 2023.

Meanwhile, A 90-year-old farmer from Kilifi identified as Kea Katana Mdudu, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for defiling his 6-year-old stepdaughter.

Senior Resident Magistrate identified as Hon. Daniel Sifuma Sitati found Mdudu guilty of the offense under section 8(1) and 8(2) of the S-xual Offences Act No. 3 of 2006.Mdudu is said to have committed the crime on July 16, 2019, in Mwaeba Pangani village, Tsangalaweni, Ganze Sub County, Kilifi County.

The Magistrate noted that the prosecution, who were represented by Ridhwan Mohamed, successfully proved the case beyond reasonable doubt through testimonies from five witnesses, including the victim who revealed what happened.

The court further noted that the minor had her innocence taken from her by the convict, her stepfather, who was expected to offer her love and protection observing that Mdudu’s actions fell below societal standards.

During the trial, the victim’s mother recounted leaving her daughter in Mdudu’s care while she attended to her business and upon returning, she discovered the abuse occurring on their matrimonial bed.

She alerted neighbors, who intervened and detained Mdudu until the police arrived. Mdudu was subsequently arrested and charged.
