Daniella Atim, the estranged wife of Ugandan music icon Jose Chameleone, is marking a significant milestone as she commemorates five years since relocating to the United States.

Additionally, she is approaching her 40th birthday later this year.Reflecting on these two events, Atim took to social media on Sunday to revisit the challenging moments of her marriage that ultimately led her to leave the father of her five children.

In an Instagram post, Atim disclosed enduring a 16-year struggle with domestic violence. Now residing in Minnesota with her children, she shared her journey as a single mother and her pursuit of a safer, happier, and more fulfilling life.

“I moved to the US exactly five years ago and sought asylum from many things including domestic violence that I endured for 16 years,” she posted.

Atim’s separation from Chameleone came as a surprise to many, with speculations swirling about the reasons behind their split. However, Atim later revealed that fleeing the cycle of domestic violence was her primary motive for leaving Uganda and resettling in the United States.

“I am a single mom raising my 5 kids on my own. Even though the age I am turning this year sounds too serious, I am choosing to relieve my early life while healing my nervous system. I am a beautiful work in progress Say no to domestic violence.” She Added.

The end of Atim’s marriage to Chameleone surprised many, sparking speculation about the reasons for their separation. However, subsequent revelations shed light on the severity of her situation.

Atim revealed last year that her main reason for leaving Uganda and moving to the United States was to break free from the cycle of domestic violence she endured with Chameleone.Their once-publicly celebrated marriage encountered numerous challenges, worsened by Chameleone’s excessive alcohol consumption.

Atim described how his drinking often led him to return home intoxicated in the early hours, unable to care for himself or their family.Despite her appeals for change, especially for the sake of their children, her pleas went unanswered, forcing her to prioritize her well-being over their troubled marriage.

Chameleone himself acknowledged the struggles of their long-distance relationship, explaining that the decision to relocate was made with their family’s future in mind.

He aimed to provide their children with better educational opportunities, away from the political and personal turmoil that affected their lives in Uganda.
