Ugandan activist and academic Dr. Stella Nyanzi has shared a deeply personal and uplifting update—after nearly 18 years of raising her children alone, she has found love again.

Now living in Germany as an asylum seeker, Nyanzi took to social media to introduce her new partner, a middle-aged white man, posting a series of affectionate photos. Her announcement radiated joy as she spoke openly about her commitment to loving—and being loved—without secrecy.

“I was created to love & be loved. For me, it is best to be loved openly,” she wrote. “As I start the evening of my life, I refuse to have another love relationship that wants to be kept a secret. When I love, I love hard. I deserve to be loved as hard & as openly as I do. Let love bloom!”

Her post was more than a romantic declaration—it was a statement of personal empowerment. Nyanzi’s path to this moment has been marked by years of resilience. For nearly two decades, she raised her three children—a 20-year-old and 18-year-old twins—alone after their father, Ousman, abandoned the family. While he remained in the UK, Nyanzi returned to Uganda pregnant with the twins and shouldered the challenges of single motherhood.

Balancing family, activism, and her professional life was no small feat. She often relied on her parents’ support while traveling abroad to provide for her children. Reflecting on her journey, she shared, “All my adult life, I’ve had to be strong and provide for people in my care… Strength is not just biceps. Strength is will power, character, stability, and leadership. Love gives me strength.”

Her announcement drew an outpouring of support from followers around the world. Messages of congratulations poured in, with comments like, “You deserve it, Nalongo,” and, “As long as you’re happy. Good luck, dear. Life is short, enjoy it to the fullest.”

For Nyanzi, this relationship is more than companionship—it’s a triumph over hardship and a celebration of her ability to embrace joy after years of struggle. Her story is a reminder that love can find us at any stage in life, and that strength and hope can carry us through even the most difficult chapters toward brighter days ahead.
