Maverick Kira Municipality legislator Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda recently narrated how he survived accusations of raping a goat.

He said that he suffered public humiliation during the 2021 parliamentary campaigns when one of his political opponents started going around telling voters that he is a criminal who was going to be arrested very soon on charges of raping a goat.

He added that the opponent not only stopped the harmful propaganda but also drew pictures of him jumping on the goat but he ignored the allegation because he knows very well that politics is about abusing and character assassinating each other. He noted that he learnt a good lesson when the Supreme Court declared in Dr. Kizza Besigye presidential election petition against President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni that abusing opponents during campaigns is not a ground that can lead to cancellation of an election.

So, in retaliation, he also used that tactic to expose his opponents even though voters always know when to accept the words used by the candidates and when to ignore them.

Ssemujju was responding to the actions and allegations from Rakai district woman legislator Juliet Kinyamatama against Mityana Municipality legislator Francis Butebi Zaake.Semujju insisted that Zaake’s successful operation to raid Kinyamatama’s constituency, abuse and humiliate her from there, and none of her voters touched him showed that even the voters are tired of her.

He pleaded to parliament leadership to avoid demeaning parliament to the extent of discussing small personal issues like where an MP abuses the other outside parliament noting that parliament has serious issues to discuss which are affecting Ugandans and have to be resolved.
