The Makindye Division Mayor, Ali Kasirye Mulyanyama,  a blue-eyed boy who is close to National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine)  has advised his party supporters to be very cautious around Kampala Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago, whom he has called a vampire.

Mulyanyama trademarked Lukwago is a raging warlord who cannot live in peace and delights in provoking conflicts with others. At this moment, Mulyanyama referred to Lukwago as a vampire who constantly had a blood hankering. He explained that Lukwago is using these conflicts to gather support from the trusting locals who believe he is fighting for them when, in fact, he is only interested in himself.

A new verbal spat between Lukwano and Kampala State Minister Joseph Kabuye Kyafatogabye over city road construction was the topic of Mulyanyama’s remarks.Kabuye claims that Lukwago obstructs city road construction in order to advance his political ambitions. However, Lukwago claims that government representatives like Kabuye are undermining the resolutions and recommendations of the city’s elected officials in an effort to discredit them in the eyes of their constituents.

According to political commentator and senior presidential media advisor Joseph Tamale Mirundi, Lukwago will exploit his new position as the head of the Katonga Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) faction to advance his bid for the presidency in 2026.Dr. Kizza Besigye, one of the four contenders for president, will, according to Mirundi, ensure that Lukwago, whom he trained politically, has plans to compete for office in 2026.

According to him, Bobi Wine will suffer significant losses in his strongholds of Buganda and the Muslim community as a result of Lukwago’s presidential bid.According to Mirundi, Lukwago’s candidacy will unite the Muslim sects of Old Kampala, which is led by the mufti Sheikh Shaban Ramathan Mubajje, the Kibuli faction, which is led by Prince Dr. Kassim Nakibinge Kakungulu, and the Tabliq sect, which is led by Sheikh Muhammad Yunus Kamoga.

Sources within Katonga camp revealed that very soon, they are going to unveil their political pressure group which is expected to be named ‘One Uganda One Dream’. The Katonga group want to use this pressure group as a political motor vehicle come 2026.Insiders in NUP that the Kampala Eye talked to during the course of investigating this story disclosed that Lukwago’s political calculation is to threaten that he is standing for presidency so that he catches the eye of Bobi Wine who will fear splitting the Buganda and Muslim community vote.

Sources disclosed that once Bobi Wine makes such a decision, Mulyanyama, Kawempe Division mayor Emmanuel Sserunjogi and Kampala city speaker Zahara Luyirika who are competing for the NUP ticket for Lord Mayor slot will be badly affected. Sources in the FDC told Grapevine that they are set to front former Makindye East legislator Ibrahim Kasozi.National Resistance Movement (NRM) is set to front Kampala Central Division mayor Salim Uhuru.
