“If NRM Is Weak to Work, Stop Complaining About Bobi Wine, Instead Borrow A Leaf From Him & Open Yours Too,” Otafiire Defends Opening Of NUP Offices
 
																								
												
												
											The Minister of Internal Affairs, Kahinda Otafiire, has come to the defense of opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, over the opening of regional offices for the National Unity Platform (NUP).
Otafiire emphasized that no law restricts a registered political party from establishing offices across Uganda. He remarked, “Is there any law that bars Kyagulanyi from opening a regional political office? Tell me any law that prohibits him when he holds a license from the Electoral Commission.”
His comments followed the recent inauguration of NUP’s western regional office in Mbarara City, shortly after the party opened its eastern regional headquarters in Iganga District in August, highlighting NUP’s commitment to nationwide growth.
Kyagulanyi explained that the Iganga office was set up quietly to avoid political harassment.
