President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has summoned legislators under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Parliamentary Caucus to Entebbe State House this Thursday, for among others, an urgent review of government service delivery.

The NRM Caucus spokesperson Hon. Brandon Kintu, confirmed the president’s meeting but also reaffirmed it’s importance, which he said is “to review government service to citizens in line with implementation of the NRM manifesto.”

He noted that the meeting is purposely to facilitate NRM MPs have an interaction and hold discussions with the party chairman “to understand the progress in serving Ugandans” during the current 5-year term of the NRM government which ends in 2026.

However, sources indicate that on the agenda, will also be review in the implementation of the Parish Development Project (PDM) -one of the flagship program of the NRM this term, but also reports of corruption in several government programs. The sources also pointed to reports of corruption in parliament where MPs collude with heads of government agencies to swindle public funds.

According to a letter from the government chief Whip Hamson Obua which was also copied to the Prime Minister and the NRM party Secretary General, the MPs are requested to undertake the COVID-19 tests at Parliament today and tomorrow starting 8AM in preparation to interact with the party chairman.

“Only members who will have taken tests with the prescribed service provider at Parliament Conference Hall will be allowed to attend” Hamson Obua Said In The Letter.

Recently, President Yoweri Museveni cautioned members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Parliamentary caucus about using their own money in the areas they lead, saying it is a huge mistake which creates leaders who are indebted.

“You will get leaders who are indebted. Indebted leaders are dangerous,” President Museveni warned.

He instead called upon the members to preach the NRM agenda for the socio-economic transformation of the people which is for all homesteads to engage in producing goods or services with ekibaro, imara (calculation) for sale which will in turn lead to prosperity for all.

Government is currently pushing for all Ugandans to join the money economy through Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and other Wealth Creation programmes.
