Uganda People’s Defense Forces has come out to warn Ugandans who attend Bobi Wine’s rallies in big numbers to care about their safety while trailing with the Ghetto gladiator who is on his regional tours with his National Unity Platform and launching party offices.

Bobi Wine commenced his regional tours from Mbarara last Monday where he was received by huge numbers of people. He’s also doing talk shows wherever he goes to reach his message of the struggle and “removing a dictator” to the masses ahead of the 2026 general elections.

While in Mbarara at Endigyito FM and few minutes into the talk show, the station went off air though reports suggest it was intentional to stop his message to change to sit well with the people of Mbarara and the surrounding areas. The NUP proceeded to Fort Portal, Kasese and Kabale but he cut short his trip to Kabale despite being welcomed massively.

The party would later issue a statement saying they received intel from the European diplomats that there were threats on Bobi Wine’s life while in Kabale. However, police warned him last Monday and yesterday telling him to stop doing processions an rallies claiming the said activities disturb the peace of other people who are going about their businesses normally.

According to the police spokesperson Enanga, Bobi Wine was told to hold meetings in townhalls but not rallies like he’s doing.Despite previously where the NUP principal and his party were running battles and altercations with the police and army, this time round the same has not happened instead they are giving him security and his people without tear gas or stray bullets.

The army also came out and warned the National Unity Platform (though didn’t directly mention) and Bobi Wine about wearing red berets which were banned in 2019 and said whoe

ver is arrested putting on what they term as military gear (red berets) will face it round. The understanding of the police and army statements and warnings were largely seen as political and double standards since police never issue such warnings to Museveni’s son Muhoozi Keinerugaba who runs campaigns and rallies in his MK movement as he eyes his father’s throne ahead of 2026.

Now the army through it’s spokesperson Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye has come out to clarify that they don’t guarantee the safety of people who attend Bobi Wine’s rallies and they should be mindful of their security since the crowds pose a big security danger to the wanainchi though majority perceive the warnings as politically motivated.
