There are serious cracks arising from the ongoing struggles for power and money among well-placed sources in the MK Movement, a political pressure group set up to rally support for the First Son, who also happens to be the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, when he becomes the next president.

The recent Gashumba  and Micheal Mawanda, the PLU Disciplinary Chairperson’s War has exposed a lot.

BALAAM VS TOYOTA

According to insiders, the MK Army, commanded by renowned event promoter Balaam Bagaruhara Ateenyi, and Team Chairman, led by Gen. Muhoozi uncle Michael Nuwagira alias Toyota, are currently engaged in a fierce battle for the attention of their supreme leader.

According to sources, the early 2024 baraza in Bwizibwera in Kashari, Mbarara, organized by Balaam and other supporters of the MK Movement in Western Uganda, was the tipping point in the conflict between the two camps.Several artists were approached by Balaam’s team to perform at the event, but Patrick Mulwana, also known as Alien Skin, Moses Ssali, also known as Bebe Cool, Sister Charity, and Raster Charz were the main choices.

They even used them in advertisements that aired on Mbarara radio stations. The function’s organizers were surprised that the only people there to provide entertainment were Sister Charity and Raster Charz.

Sources within MK Movement confirmed to this site  that Team Chairman Camp compromised Alien Skin not to attend Balaam’s function and promised to double the money he was paid not to perform at the function.

“Alien Skin was given 15 million by Balaam’s team to perform. Surprisingly, the other faction doubled the money and gave him 30 million not to perform. When the money was sent to Alien Skin, he stopped in Masaka, switched off his phone and turned back to Kampala. He later returned Balaam’s 15 million,” an insider in MK Movement told theGrapevine.

According to sources, Skin initially turned down the offer, but after receiving the double offer, he accepted it. After receiving the money, he left Masaka and ceased speaking with anyone at Kashari.

According to sources, after Balaam took part in a football match between MK Movement supporters from Ankole and Tooro, a group of enraged supporters, spurred on by some miscreants sent to spread mayhem, attempted to turn their firearms on him and threatened to beat him. They argued because they believed that following the game, they would receive some gifts.

But they were informed that this was only a small competition and that what had just happened was a semifinal. They were further told that prizes will be given to the teams that will participate and win the finals.Sources close to Balaam’s camp charge that Toyata’s supporters are trying to financially ruin them in order to undermine their grassroots political mobilization for Gen. Muhoozi.

According to sources, Balaam chose to utilize his own funds to continue the nationwide mobilization operation after being identified and assigned by Gen. Muhoozi.According to the source, Muhoozi was recently informed that some of his group’s members were tarnishing his reputation by asking others for money. This is the reason MK Movement spokesperson Andrew Mwenda warned the public in a statement not to provide money to anyone pretending to be carrying out orders from Gen. Muhoozi.

Although Balaam was unfazed by the accusations, sources claimed that several members of his entourage are being looked into by the Movement’s disciplinary committee, which is led by Michael Mawanda Maranga.

The Kampala Eye was further informed by Movement sources that there is a covert effort underway to persuade Gen. Muhoozi to remove Mwenda, whom they accuse of being pro-homosexual to the point where he was one of the individuals who petitioned the Constitutional Court to declare the law that was passed by parliament and signed by President Museveni to be unconstitutional.

Members of the MK Movement also fight because of the competition for attractive, curvaceous women. From its inception, MK Movement has had a reputation of attracting some of the most beautiful, bummy girls. This has led to fights among men on how the women should be shared. This has in turn fueled divisions and fights.

Gashumba War

A missive by the Patriotic League of Uganda National Vice Chairman in Central Buganda, Frank Gashumba has also revealed a serious battle of world war proportions being underway in the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) formerly MK Movement. This all started when Micheal Mawanda, the PLU Disciplinary Chairperson summoned Gashumba to appear before his committee over his social media conduct.

Gashumba had on Monday ranted on social media platform X, expressing concerns over deteriorating security situation in the country. He went on to call those in charge of security agencies – UPDF, Police, Internal Security Organisation, Military Police, spy agencies and Special Forces Command to step down if they cannot arrest the situation.

On top of tagging among others President Museveni, Speaker Anita Among, Gashumba accompanied the post with photos of CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba (also Chairman of PLU) and new IGP Abbas Byakagaba. To Mawanda, Gashumba attacked PLU Chairman Gen Muhoozi and this warranted summons for a hearing to consider an allegation of misconduct on social media.

By Gashumba proceeding to attach a picture of the Chief of Defence Forces and Chairman of Patriotic League of Uganda, and to tag his X handle as further, according to  Mawanda,  was a manifestation of the direction of this attack.

“Your words meant and were understood to be a public attack on the Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda.”Gashumba hit back not only at Mawanda but also PLU’s Secretary General David Kabanda.

He said these two naturally hate him and says the manner in which he was summarily summoned to appear before the disciplinary committee speaks volumes about the level of disrespect and total disregard they have towards him.

Gashumba who said he is in this PLU thing for the sake of Gen.Muhoozi Kainerugaba whom he loves a lot, is also imploring Mawanda’s disciplinary stick to first go after other PLU members like Asaph Nahurira and a certain Minister who allegedly stole Rice and Meat meant for PLU supporters in the Greater Masaka region during a recent PLU rally there.

Appearing to reference the clean hands doctrine which is based on the maxim of equity of “he who comes into equity must come with clean hands,” Gashumba reminded Mawanda to first give his version of events to Police’s CID in regard to a recent Cooperatives Shs 164bn cash probe where his name was mentioned.

To Gashumba, the post was addressed to the leadership of the entire security apparatus and not to the leadership of Patriotic League of Uganda and that if he was to be summoned for disciplinary proceedings, it should have been the Chief of Defence Forces or the Inspector General of Police but not Mawanda.

FINDINGS

We are told camps have started developing in PLU.

We are told pioneer mobilizers are being thrown under the bus and being treated with a lot of disrespect.

We are also told battle lines have been drawn between those in active politics or elitists Vs the kitchen cabinet.

On one side are reportedly Ministers and Mps like Kabanda, Mawanda, Abber and others Vs the likes of Gashumba, Toyota, Mwenda, Balaam and others.
